From the road

This post coming to you via the iPhone Wordpress application.

It’s kind of ungainly for long articles, but it will work in a pinch.

Upgraded and ready for action…

Well, following yesterday’s resurrection, the Wordpress instance powering my blog has now been upgraded to the latest release (2.6).  I’m getting used to the changes and hunting-down plugins.

Back from the dead…

My blog is back.  When we moved the business server out of the co-location facility and into our house on a dedicated DSL line, the first bits to get handled were that for the business.

Well, fast-forward a few months (like 7) and I’m finally getting-around to getting my blog back up.

Upgrades are pending, now that the posts have been recovered…and there’s lots to talk about, so please tune-in again!

A fun day…

It’s been a while since I have written anything, but today was just so fun that I have to share it.

Today was “picture with Santa” day at the NorCal Crandall household. In past years, Kenny has been mister serious man whenever it was time to see Santa (or in any other public appearance that could remotely lead to his getting attention.) This is the first year that he is actually getting Christmas (as much as a 3-year-old can, that is!) The only thing I was concerned about this time, was whether Kenny understood that he was supposed to ask Santa for things and not to expect to get anything today.

The first couple of times we discussed it with him, he still was expecting some payoff. However, once we arrived on location, Kenny seemed to remember pictures of years past, and was excited to see Santa again, and to ask for the myriad of Thomas the Tank Engine toys that he is hoping for (much to the chagrin of the 20-something helper elf, who got a full-fledged education in Thomas in 30 seconds!) Kenny behaved wonderfully, and did not even utter one word of protest or complaint when asked stood next to Santa for the picture when Lizzie got to sit on Santa’s lap.  He really wanted to sit on Santa’s lap himself, so when the pictures were done, he asked if he could, and was rewarded with his own “Santa time” (and we got a SMILING pic of him this time, in the bargain!)

Fast-forward a couple of hours to dinner and fun and Chuck E. Cheese’s with the Baglietto’s (a family that we know through Kenny’s daycare.)  He listened and behaved himself all night long, lasting even 1 1/2 hours past his usual bed time.   Lizzie was her usual happy self, and did not squeal or scream the whole night.  Pretty good work for a 11-week-old!  I commented to Michelle when we got home how much fun “the kids” (as we’re finally getting used to saying) were today.  This was a great day, and a fun part of the Holidays for this year.

Yet another reason I love Nordstrom’s…

Today I came across this. I’ve always loved shopping at Nordstrom’s (and I’m not into shopping at all) but this is something I wish I’d see more places do. The holiday season is supposed to be about the holidays themselves, not consumerism…
